Carneros Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Vineyard
Our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes grow in the renowned Carneros AVA, in vineyards cooled by marine air from a gap in the Pacific coastal range and from the northernmost reaches of San Francisco Bay. Soils at this wind-swept site on the valley floor consist of alluvial clay streaked with gravel, supporting limited quantities of intensely flavored fruit. The vines are favored with excellent exposures and moderate temperatures, ideal for producing these classic Burgundian varieties.
Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Home Vineyard
Grapes for our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon grow in a unique vineyard on our home, where tightly spaced head-trained, spur-pruned vines cling to the contours of a steep 700-foot hillside. These slopes require farming completely by hand. This bowl-shaped site enjoys optimum south-southwest exposures and offers expansive views of Sonoma Mountain and the distant Berkeley Hills. Well-drained soils vary from thick and rocky to more fertile, and contribute modest yields with a full array of flavors.
Sonoma Valley Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon Vineyards
Our Sauvignon Blanc grapes grow at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains, on gently rolling hills with marine sedimentary soils. Located in the lower Sonoma Valley just north of Carneros, this site provides a southern exposure for the vines, and is slightly warmer than the surrounding area. Our Semillon source is up-valley, just north of Kenwood, in well-drained volcanic soils on the valley floor. This location enjoys warm days and cool, sometimes foggy nights.
